Ophelia, a new clutch by P.S. BESITOS:

Today we present to you a new model by P.S. Besitos: "Ophelia", the heroine from Hamlet by Shakespeare, a character  beyond  the story,  turned into  a myth.

In Ophelia we have an impossible love, a family tragedy, the feminine suicide  and madness.

In the Nineteen Century the artists and painters were absolutely crazy about Ophelia. They specially loved all the possibilities the character had related to the water symbolism. Traditionally nymphs become water because of sadness, as Hamlet’s lover does metaphorically in the Shakespeare’s play.

Everybody can remember the very famous painting “Ophelia” by the Pre Raphaelite Millais. A fascinating and hypnotically masterpiece that is impossible to stop looking at. Natura and woman mixed in a very poetic and sinister way.

Recently, we have seen Ophelia’s oneiric image in the film “Melancholia” by Lars Von  Trier. Again the Ophelia myth appears as a symbol of feminine sadness linked to a tragically fate impossible to avoid.

Hoy os presentamos otro  nuevo modelo de  P.S. Besitos: "Ophelia", la heroína del Hamlet de Shakespeare, personaje que trasciende la obra y adquiere la categoría de mito.

En Ophelia encontramos el  amor imposible, la tragedia familiar, el suicidio femenino y la locura. 

Como personaje fascinó especialmente a los artistas del siglo XIX.  El romanticismo pictórico y literario encontró en ella una fuente inagotable, especialmente  por su simbología unida al agua, siguiendo con la tradición de las ninfas que se transformaban en agua por culpa de la tristeza.

En la memoria de todos está el famosísimo cuadro del pintor prerrafaelista Millais, una Ophelia que fascina e hipnotiza. Una pintura que es imposible dejar de mirar donde la naturaleza se funde con el personaje de una manera siniestramente poética.

Recientemente la imagen onírica de Ophelia la hemos podido encontrar recreada en la película “Melancolía” de Lars von Trier, donde de nuevo  aparece como símbolo de la tristeza femenina unida a un destino del que es imposible escapar.

A lot of people think “Gulliver’s travels” is a children book, but when Jonathan Swift, the author, publish the novel in 1726, what he really did it was a satire on human nature and a parody of the travelers’ tales.

And by the way, speaking about travelling, when did you get away to the mountain last time?. It is an easy trip you can prepare in the very last minute, and we promise you will be back to the office on Monday with all your energy refreshed.

A diferencia de lo que se pueda pensar en un primer momento “Los viajes de Gulliver” no es en absoluto un libro infantil. Su autor,  Jonathan Swift, lo publicó en el año 1726 y lo que hizo fue una ácida crítica de la sociedad de su época bajo la apariencia de un libro de viajes.

Y hablando de viajes, ¿cuándo  fue la última vez que hiciste una escapada de fin de semana a la montaña?. Es la típica excursión que puedes preparar en el último momento y seguro que vuelves el lunes a la oficina con las energías renovadas.

Cannes Film Festival: Glamour is back!

Last weekend ended the 67^th Cannes Film Festival, a “must-have” event not only for movie lovers but also for red carpet   followers worldwide.

We can say that the most remarkable thing this edition it has been that for the very first time a woman has been chaired the jury. The New Zealand director Jane Campion (who does not remember the wonderful movie “The Piano” and the fantastic soundtrack), and also for the first time has been a Turkish director, Nuri Bilge Ceylan who won the Palm d’Or for “Winter Sleep”.

However, what is noteworthy it was a “women edition” because the Grand Jury prize was taken by the Italian woman Alice Rohrwacher with “La Meraviglie”.

And speaking about we have seen on the red carpet, we can definitely say: Glamour is back! It was for a long time we have not seen so elegant glamour and chic sophistication in an event.

In spite of some celebrities who have visited Cannes last week with wrong styling, really spectacular outfits have shined in the Film Festival: Naomi Watts with a wonderful blue Marchesa with rhinestones, Nicole Kidman with a sophisticated silver tones Armani Privé, Cate Blanchett with an amazing model of Valentino, or our favourite, a model of Gucci Première worn by Blake Lively with a very best vintage 50’s style. 

Este pasado fin de semana terminó la 67ª edición del  Festival de Cannes, un evento obligado no solo para los amantes del cine sino también para todas las seguidoras de alfombras rojas  a nivel mundial.

En lo que respecta a lo cinematográfico lo más significativo esta edición ha sido que por primera vez una mujer presidió el jurado: La directora neozelandesa Jane Campion (quién no se acuerda de la maravillosa película “El piano” y su fantástica banda sonora), y que también por primera vez ha sido un director turco, Nuri Bilge Ceylan, el que se ha llevado la palma de oro por “Winter Sleep”. 

En cualquier caso lo que hay que destacar es que ha sido una edición de mujeres ya que el gran premio del jurado se lo ha llevado  la italiana Alice Rohrwacher, con La Meraviglie.

Y en lo que respecta a lo que hemos visto sobre las alfombra roja definitivamente podemos decir ¡Volvió el glamour!. Hace tiempo que no veíamos en ningún evento destacado tanto glamour y elegante sofisticación.

Quitando a algunas de las celebrities que se han paseado por Cannes la semana pasada con estilismos muy poco acertados y de las cuales no vamos a hablar, por lo general  lo que ha prevalecido han sido looks realmente espectaculares: Naomi Watts con un maravilloso vestido de Marchesa azul con pedrería, Nicole Kidman con un sofisticado Armani Privé en tonos plata,  Cate Blanchett con un increíble modelo de Valentino, o nuestro favorito, un modelo de Gucci Première que lució Blake Lively al mejor estilo vintage de los años 50.

Today we want to present "The LittleMermaid", a new P.S. Besitos book clutch in our catalog dedicated to children's stories.

"The Little Mermaid" is a fairy tale written by the Danish author Hans Christian Andersen that was first published in 1837 and has had numerous film, musical and ballet adaptations.

The story is back on the news because recently the media has jumped on the news that Sofia Coppola will direct a new version of this tale with real images and a much more faithful adaptation of the dramatic story of the Danish writer.

Those who know the story through Disney think it is a story with a happy ending, but nothing further from the original version, it is a story of heartbreak and disappointment.

The new film, that will roll the well-known director of "Marie Antoinette" or "Lost in Translation", is going to be framed within a cinematic stream that has become fashionable lately by adapting adult fairy tales respecting the original versions without avoiding dramatic elements, for example stories that have recently prevailed on the screens such as: Little Red Riding Hood, Hansel and Gretel, Beauty and the Beast, Pinocchio...

Hoy os queremos presentar   “La Sirenita”,  un nuevo título de P.S. Besitos dentro de  nuestra línea de catálogo dedicada a los cuentos infantiles.

“La Sirenita” es un cuento de hadas del escritor danés Hans Christian Andersen que se publicó por primera vez en 1837 y ha tenido numerosas adaptaciones al cine, los musicales y el ballet clásico.

Vuelve a estar de actualidad porque hace muy poco tiempo ha saltado a los medios la noticia de que la directora Sofía Coppola va a dirigir una nueva versión de este cuento con imágenes reales y una adaptación mucho más fiel al dramático relato del escritor danés.

Los que conocen la historia a través de la película de Disney piensan que es una historia con final feliz, pero nada más lejos de la versión original, una historia de desamor  y decepción.

We already talked about the white shirt and now comes the turn to the trench between seasons. It is a key piece in your wardrobe, especially early in the spring and fall.

Like all the basic pieces of our wardrobe, you should opt for a good quality garment, as it will be with you for several seasons. We suggest you to avoid the low cost and make a good investment long term insurance and it will be worth it.

Escape from the classic black or camel tones, and opt for a neutral tone but different like a pastel pink, pearl gray, or cream tone. These are easy colors to combine and that make us feel special when we wear them.

It now depends on your creativity power to use it as a casual everyday go-to-work garment, or as the look suggested, you can even wear it in those special occasions that require an extra touch of glamour.

En  P.S. Besitos nos gustaría daros unos pequeños consejos de estilismo para que os hagáis con un fondo de armario básico e imprescindible al que le podáis sacar el máximo provecho con diferentes posibilidades de looks en función de vuestras necesidades diarias o más especiales.

Ya hablamos en su momento de la camisa blanca, hoy le toca el turno al trench de entre tiempo. Una pieza fundamental  en nuestro armario, especialmente al inicio de la primavera y al comienzo del otoño.

Como en todas las piezas básicas de nuestro vestuario debemos optar por una buena prenda de calidad, ya que nos va a acompañar durante varias temporadas. Os aconsejamos evitar el low cost y hacer una buena inversión que seguro  a largo plazo os va a merecer la pena.

Huir de los clásicos tonos negro o camel, y optar por un tono neutro, pero a la vez diferente como un rosa pastel, un gris perla, o un tono crema. Colores que son fáciles de combinar y a la vez nos hacen sentirnos especiales cuando los llevamos.

Ya depende de vuestra  creatividad el poder utilizarlo como una prenda causual para ir todos los días al trabajo; o en su caso, como el look que os proponemos, incluso poder llevarlo para aquellas ocasiones especiales que exigen un toque extra de glamour.

You know that in P.S. Besitos, we are passionate about fashion and especially literature; there is nothing better than a good book to travel to wonderful worlds and live feelings and emotions that are usually far from what we can achieve in our daily lives.

Today is the worldwide celebration of the Book’s Day; UNESCO chose this date to commemorate the death of William Shakespeare and Miguel de Cervantes, two of the key figures of world literature. The usual celebration consists on giving away books and in some cases, such as in Catalonia, the book is accompanied by a red rose.

That’s why today we invite you to celebrate the Book’s Day in a twofold way: giving away that book that made you dream to a special person with its P.S. Besitos clutch model, she will never forgets about you and you will remain in her memory forever.

Ya sabéis que en P.S. Besitos somos unas apasionadas de la moda y sobre todo de la literatura, no hay nada mejor que un buen libro para viajar a mundos maravillosos y  vivir sensaciones y emociones que por lo general están muy lejos de que las podamos  alcanzar en nuestras vidas cotidianas.

Hoy se celebra a nivel mundial el Día del Libro; la Unesco eligió esta fecha en conmemoración del fallecimiento de  William Shakespeare y Miguel de Cervantes, dos de las figuras fundamentales de la literatura universal. Por lo general se suele celebrar regalando libros y en algunos casos, como por ejemplo en Cataluña, el libro va acompañado de una rosa roja.

Es por eso que hoy os invitamos a celebrar el día del libro de una doble manera: regalando a una persona especial ese libro que os ha hecho soñar junto con su modelo de clutch de P.S. Besitos, no os van a olvidar y permaneceréis en el recuerdo para siempre.
