Throughout the twentieth century the Anglo-Saxon tradition of Valentine’s Day has been spread being an important date in every world calendar. It is celebrated on February 14th and this day couples in love express their love and affection to each other.

    

Many people may think that Valentine's Day is celebrated recently and that it is the interest of department stores but its origins date back to the Roman Empire, during which a priest called Valentine celebrated marriages between young lovers before the male had to join the army.

Gradually the February 14th became a date in which love messages were interchanged until St. Valentine became the patron saint of lovers. It is also a day to celebrate love for people to whom you have a special affection, like friends or family.

A lo largo del siglo XX la popular tradición anglosajona de San Valentín se ha ido haciendo un hueco en el calendario de todos los rincones del mundo. Se celebra el 14 de febrero y este día las parejas de enamorados expresan su amor y cariño mutuamente.

Muchos pensarán que San Valentín se celebra desde hace poco y que surgió por el interés de los grandes almacenes pero su origen se remonta a la época del Imperio Romano, período en el que un sacerdote llamado Valentín celebraba matrimonios entre los jóvenes enamorados antes de que el varón marchase a formar parte de las filas del ejército.

Poco a poco el día 14 de Febrero se ha convertido en una fecha en la que se intercambian mensajes de amor y San Valentín se ha convertido en el patrón de los enamorados. También es un día para celebrar el amor por las personas que se tiene un afecto especial, como los amigos o los familiares.
