Ten Picassos in The Prado Museum:

As someone of you know, we love art, and the exhibitions that offer some museums are not worth not seen. This time the appointment is in the Museo del Prado and the great artist is Picasso. Through ten artworks of the Malaga painter, dated between 1906 and 1967, a small retrospective of the artist can be seen in the Central Gallery Villanueva building, accompanied by some of the Prado masterpieces by Titian, Tintoretto is formed, Velazquez and Rubens.

The project is part of a global collaboration agreement with the Kunstmuseum Basel Museum del Prado and the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia, where he also presents a selection of works from the Swiss museum.

The ten Picassos on exhibit are certainly the most outstanding artworks of the artist and are ten examples of the evolution of its production from its "Iberian" period until the very free and somewhat melancholic works of Picasso end of 1967, forming well a sort of small retrospective.

You can enjoy this exhibition up to September 14, 2015, in the Central Gallery of the Prado Museum in the Villanueva building.

Cómo sabéis nos encanta el arte. En esta ocasión la cita es en el Museo del Prado y el artista el gran Picasso. A través de las diez obras del pintor malagueño, fechadas entre 1906 y 1967, se conforma una pequeña retrospectiva del artista que se puede contemplar en la Galería Central del edificio Villanueva, en compañía de algunas de las obras maestras del Prado de Tiziano, Tintoretto, Velázquez o Rubens.

El proyecto forma parte de un acuerdo de colaboración global del Kunstmuseum de Basilea con el Museo del Prado y el Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, donde también se presenta una selección de obras procedentes del museo suizo. 

Los diez picassos que integran la exposición son sin duda las obras más destacadas del artista y constituyen diez ejemplos de la evolución de su producción, desde su período “ibérico” hasta las obras libérrimas y un tanto melancólicas del Picasso final, de 1967, conformando así una suerte de pequeña exposición retrospectiva.

Podéis disfrutar de esta exposición hasta de 14 de septiembre 2015, en la Galería Central del Museo del Prado en el Edificio Villanueva.

Photo España 2015 is about to start:

Tomorrow, June 3th the most important photography trade fair is inaugurated in Madrid: PhotoEspaña 2015, dedicated to Latin-American countries. This year includes exhibits of great artists: Ana Casas Broda with her expo Kinderwunsch, Enrique Meneses and A reporter's life, among others.

At its 18º Edition, PHotoEspaña will be dedicated to Latin American monographic photography wealth converted into an international reference.

In this edition, 24 exhibitions are scheduled in the official section in Madrid and 17 in other cities; 19 are shared between the guest venues, of which 7 are outside Spain (Lisbon, Cascais, London, Paris, Panama, Bogota and Sao Paulo), and the Off Festival brings together 41 exhibitions. To this bind workshops, meetings, awards ... a perfect opportunity to enjoy the art of photography and learn about the culture of these beautiful countries.

Latin American photography, little known in Europe, will feature this year's PhotoEspaña festival, which until August 30 displayed works of 395 artists.

Mañana, 3 de Junio se inaugura en Madrid la feria más importante del sector de la fotografía: PHotoEspaña 2015, dedicada a Latino América, contará con exposiciones de grandes artistas: Ana Casas Broda con su expo Kinderwunsch, Enrique Meneses y La vida de un reportero, entre otros.

En su decimoctava convocatoria, PHotoEspaña estará dedicado de forma monográfica a la riqueza fotográfica latinoamericana convertida en referente internacional.

En esta edición están programadas 24 exposiciones en la sección oficial en Madrid capital y 17 en otras ciudades; 19 se reparten entre las sedes invitadas, de las cuales 7 están fuera de España (Lisboa, Casçais, Londres, París, Panamá, Bogotá y São Paulo), y el Festival Off reúne 41 exposiciones. A ello se unen los talleres, encuentros, premios… una oportunidad perfecta para disfrutar del arte de la fotografía y conocer la cultura de esos preciosos países.

La fotografía latinoamericana, poco conocida en Europa, protagoniza este año el festival PhotoEspaña, que hasta el 30 de agosto mostrará obras de 395 artistas.

Lanvin at Paris:

The Palais Galliera, in close collaboration with Alber Elbaz, artistic director of Lanvin, is honouring the oldest French fashion house still in business. This first Paris exhibition devoted to Jeanne Lanvin (1867-1946) features over a hundred models from the amazing collections of the Lanvin Heritage.

Jeanne Lanvin used travel diaries, swatches of ethnic fabrics and a vast library of art books to feed her curiosity and inspire her to create fabrics, patterns and exclusive colours. Jeanne Lanvin represents artistry in materials, embroidery, twists, spirals, cut-outs – all the virtuosity of the couturière’s craft. It is classical French perfection, with very 18^th century style dresses contrasting with the tubular line of Art Deco with its black and white geometrical patterns, the profusion of ribbons, cristals, beads, and silk tassels.

A capacity for hard work and an intuitive understanding of the modern world only partly explain the extraordinary success of this discreet woman. Alber Elbaz, the Palais Galliera and P.S. Besitos invite you to an encounter with this great lady of haute couture, Jeanne Lanvin.

El Palais Galliera, en estrecha colaboración con Alber Elbaz, director artístico de Lanvin, homenajea a la casa de moda francesa más antigua todavía en activo. Esta primera exposición de París dedicada a Jeanne Lanvin (1867-1946) cuenta con más de cien modelos de las increíbles colecciones del Patrimonio Lanvin.

Jeanne Lanvin utilizaba diarios de viaje, muestras de tejidos étnicos y una amplia biblioteca de libros de arte para alimentar su curiosidad e inspirarse a la hora de crear telas, patrones y colores exclusivos. Jeanne Lanvin expresa su arte en los materiales, los bordados, giros, espirales, recortes… - todo el virtuosismo del oficio de costurera.

Es la perfección clásica francesa, con vestidos de estilo muy del siglo XVIII en contraste con la línea Art Deco, con patrones geométricos en blanco y negro, cintas, cristales, perlas y borlas de seda.

Una capacidad asombrosa para trabajar duro y una comprensión intuitiva del mundo moderno explican el extraordinario éxito de esta mujer. Alber Elbaz, el Palais Galliera y P.S. Besitos te invitan a un encuentro con esta gran dama de la alta costura, Jeanne Lanvin.

French fashion 1947-1957 in Art Museum in Bilbao:

Until next 31st of August you can visit a spectacular collection of more than a hundred models of the 50s Parisian designers at the Art Museum in Bilbao, with artists as Balmain, Christian Dior, Yves Saint Laurent, Lanvin, Givenchy, Balenciaga or Pierre Cardin.

This exhibition collects the most emblematic designs the golden Parisian fashion decade, and also shoes, headdresses, jewellery, gloves, pants, swimsuits and lingerie made by dressmakers.

The originality of this exhibition is that garments and complements are showed to visitors at rooms with classic art in the Bilbao’s gallery surrounded by ancient art pieces.

A black and white set of skirt and jacket made by Dior in 1947 welcomes the visitors and along our visit we can see pieces like the summer dress “Hermeselle” by Hermès, the daily suit “number 28” by Balenciaga, or the evening dress “Antonia” by Balmain, and much others more.

This is a fashion exhibition which you should not miss, go and visit it!

Hasta el próximo 31 de agosto  podéis visitar en el Museo de Bellas Artes de Bilbao una espectacular colección de más de 100 modelos de los grandes diseñadores parisinos de los años 50, entre los que encontramos a artistas de la talla de Balmain, Christian Dior, Ives Saint Laurent, Lanvin, Givenchy, Balenciaga o Pierre Cardin.

La exposición aúna los modelos más emblemáticos de los diseñadores de la época dorada de la moda en París, así como zapatos, tocados, joyas guantes, medias, bañadores y lencería confeccionadas por los modistos.

La originalidad de la exposición reside en que las prendas y complementos se presentan al espectador en las salas de arte clásico de la pinacoteca bilbaína rodeadas de obras de arte de la antigüedad.

Recibe a los visitantes un conjunto de falda y chaqueta blanco y negro de Dior, confeccionado en 1947 y encontramos  a lo largo de la visita piezas como el vestido de verano "Hermeselle", de Hermès; el traje chaqueta de día "Número 28", de Balenciaga; o el traje de noche "Antonia", de Balmain, entre otros.

Paul Delvaux: A walk with Love and Death:

The Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum, which continues with the aim of bringing the work of historical artists, has organized a retrospective of Paul Delvaux, one of the main representatives of surrealist art.

Delvaux sought, in his own words "the revival of the poetic idea of art" and this, we can see it in every one of his works. Delvaux wasn’t part of the core of surrealism, due in part to his fauvist, realistic and expressionistic influences, but he created iconographic works, thanks mainly to the use of the strange and illogical representation.

The artist already has a small site in the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum, thanks to his works: Woman in the Mirror (1936) and The viaduct (1963), but with this retrospective we can explore more of his enigmatic world, full of women, trains or skeletons, which were portrayed with stylistic consistency that takes us through the experiences of the artist.

El Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza, continuando con su objetivo de acercar a los grandes artistas históricos a todos los públicos, ha organizado una retrospectiva sobre Paul Delvaux, uno de los principales representantes del arte surrealista.

Delvaux buscaba, en sus propias palabras “el resurgimiento de la idea poética del arte”, y esto se puede ver en cada una de sus obras, ya que sin pertenecer al núcleo del surrealismo, debido en parte a sus influencias tanto fauvistas como realistas y expresionistas, consiguió crear un conjunto de obras iconográficas gracias, fundamentalmente, al uso de la representación extraña, ilógica.

El artista belga ya tiene un pequeño hueco en el Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza gracias a sus obras Mujer ante el espejo (1936) y El viaducto (1963), pero con esta retrospectiva se pretende ahondar aún más en un mundo enigmático, plagado de mujeres, trenes o esqueletos, retratados con una consistente unidad estilística que nos transporta a través de las vivencias del artista.

The modern woman in the 1900s Paris:

Today we are going to talk about an exhibition which is having a great success: the modern woman in the 1900s Paris. It shows how the artists of that time witnessed the quick transformation of the role of women in society.

The painters of the century became chroniclers of the incipient process of women's emancipation. Their paintings show women in a city that until the mid- nineteenth century was a male territory.

From the elegant ladies of the gentry, dressed in the latest fashion, to the working class women, the painters pointed their curious eyes on all of them. These artists were attracted both by bourgeois woman who went to the theater to see and be seen as the ones who worked on stage.

If you do not want to miss the exhibition there's still time to visit it . It is in the Thyssen Museum until February 8th.

Hoy queremos hablaros de una exposición que está teniendo mucho éxito: la mujer moderna en el París de 1900. Ésta refleja cómo los artistas de la época fueron testigos de la rápida transformación del papel de la mujer en la sociedad.

Los pintores del París del cambio de siglo  se convirtieron en cronistas del incipiente proceso de emancipación femenina. Sus lienzos nos muestran a la mujer en una urbe que hasta mediados del siglo XIX había sido territorio principalmente masculino.

Desde las elegantes damas de la alta burguesía, vestidas a la última moda, hasta las mujeres de la clase trabajadora, serán objeto de la curiosa mirada de los artistas de la época. Los artistas se sintieron atraídos tanto por la mujer burguesa que acudía al teatro para ver y ser vista como por las que trabajaban sobre el escenario.

Si no quieres perderte la exposición aún estás a tiempo de verla. Está en el Museo Thyssen hasta el 8 de febrero.

Hubert de Givenchy, the exhibition:

All fashion lovers are in luck, because one of the most prestigious museums in the Spanish capital, the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum, will host his first exhibition devoted to high fashion, from 22 October until 18 January we can see a retrospective of the work of Hubert Givenchy.

The exhibition, which will be overseen by Givenchy himself, collects a sample of the work that the French designer made ​​for nearly fifty years, starting with the founding of the “Maison Givenchy” in 1952 and ending in 1996 with the retirement of Givenchy.

Givenchy, which already has 87, was one of the most important designers in history. His designs were taken from Jackie Kennedy to the Duchess of Windsor and Princess Caroline of Monaco, but was Audrey Hepburn, and movies still remembered as Sabrina and Breakfast at Tiffany's, which became his muse and inspired much of his work.

You can’t miss this tribute. The exhibition will include garments such as the Bettina blouse or dress coat, which were created by Givenchy, an iconic designer or, as Hepburn said, a creator of personality.

Todos  los amantes de la moda, están de enhorabuena, puesto que uno de los museos más prestigiosos de la capital española, el Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza, acogerá del 22 de octubre hasta el 18 de enero una retrospectiva de la obra de Hubert Givenchy, siendo esta la primera exposición que la pinacoteca dedica a la moda de alto nivel.  

La exposición, que estará supervisada por el propio artista, recogerá una muestra del trabajo que el diseñador francés realizó durante casi cincuenta años de profesión, partiendo de  la fundación de la Maison Givenchy en 1952 y finalizando en 1996, año del retiro de Givenchy.

Givenchy, que ya cuenta 87 años, fue uno de los modistos más emblemáticos de la historia al ser el diseñador de referencia de personalidades de importancia mundial. Sus modelos los vistieron desde Jackie Kennedy hasta la duquesa de Windsor o Carolina de Mónaco, pero fue Audrey Hepburn, a la que vistió en películas como Desayuno con Diamantes o Sabrina, que todavía hoy siguen en el imaginario colectivo, la que se convirtió en su musa e inspiró gran parte de su trabajo.

No os podéis perder este homenaje que contará con prendas tales como la blusa Bettina o el vestido saco que fueron creadas por Givenchy, un diseñador de referencia o, como dijo Hepburn, un creador de personalidad.

Alma Tadema and the Victorian Painting :

After being in Paris and Rome, and before flying to London, the exhibition "Alma Tadema and the Victorian Painting” lands in the Thyssen-Bornemisza. We can’t think of a better plan than spending an afternoon at the museum now that autumn has already started and we are forced to limit our outdoor activities due to the changing and always unpredictable weather.

Victorian painting was never well appreciated in his time; however, the criteria have changed and in the twenty-first century there has been a revaluation of this painting style because of the naturalness and sensuality of his works that sought only the pure formal beauty.

In the exhibition we can see iconic works such as: Albert Joseph Moore The Quartette or Frederic Leighton Greek Girls Picking up Pebbles by the Sea. These works are essential to understand the movement, but the soul of the exhibition is the work of Alma Tadema.

The 15 works owned by Juan Antonio Pérez Simón, run through the painter's artistic career, starting from the most mundane scenes from the beginning of his career to reach one of his best and most complete works: The Roses of Heliogabalus.

Tadema became a star of his time because of his precious and bright style that used to paint themes from history and mythology of Greece and Rome. Despite this, his works were battered during the next century due to the idealization of the issues. Therefore, this exhibition that rediscovers his work is absolutely necessary.

Tras su estancia en París y Roma y antes de volar a Londres, la exposición Alma Tadema y la Pintura Victoriana, hace escala en el Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza. Así que qué mejor plan que pasar una tarde en el museo ahora que el otoño ya ha comenzado y nos vemos obligadas a limitar nuestras actividades al aire libre por culpa del tiempo cambiante y siempre imprevisible.

La pintura victoriana nunca fue bien valorada en su época; sin embargo, los criterios han cambiado y el Siglo XXI ha traído una revalorización de la misma gracias a la naturalidad y sensualidad de sus obras que no buscan nada más allá que la pura belleza formal.

En la exposición se podrán ver obras icónicas como: El cuarteto, de Albert Joseph Moore o Muchachas griegas recogiendo guijarros a la orilla del mar, de Frederic Leighton que resultan imprescindibles para entender el movimiento, pero la esencia de la exposición serán las obras de Alma Tadema.

Las 15 obras, propiedad de Juan Antonio Pérez Simón, recorren toda la trayectoria de Tadema, partiendo de sus primeras escenas más cotidianas hasta llegar a una de sus mejores y más completas obras: Las rosas de Heliogábalo. El estilo preciosista y luminoso de retratar temas procedentes de la historia y la mitología grecorromana convirtió a Tadema en una celebridad de la Inglaterra victoriana, pero esta idealización de los temas también hizo que su obra fuese muy maltratada durante el siglo posterior, haciendo que la revisitación que ahora se realiza sea del todo necesaria.

“Charles James: Beyond Fashion” In the metropolitan-museum-of-art, NY:

There is no doubt that the more fashionable exhibition this season will be "Charles James: Beyond Fashion" at the "Metropolitan Museum of Art" in New York. 

Probably there are not many European fashionistas who know the designer Charles James, considered the first American designer adored by Christian Dior and Balenciaga, who said once that he was "the best and only couturiere". Among his clients were Elsa Schiaparelli and Coco Chanel.

This exhibition is a unique opportunity to get to know the work of this important and little-known designer who revolutionized the New York society in the forties and fifties with his glamorous dresses. Around 75 of his designs will be exposed to the public who is going to feel, see and touch some parts extremely worked from an architectural and mathematical perspective.

The exhibition will be open to the public until August 10^th. It is the perfect excuse to visit the always magical city of New York.

Sin duda, la exposición de  moda esta temporada a nivel mundial va a ser  “Charles James: Beyond Fashion” en el “Metropolitan Museum of Art” de Nueva York.

Probablemente no serán muchas las fashionistas europeas que conozcan al diseñador Charles James, considerado el primer modisto norteamericano adorado por Christian Dior o Balenciaga, que llegó a decir de él que era “el mejor y único couturiere”. Entre sus clientas estaban Elsa Schiaparelli o la mismísima Coco Chanel.

Esta exposición es una  oportunidad única para conocer el trabajo de tan importante y poco conocido diseñador que revolucionó la sociedad neoyorkina en los años cuarenta y cincuenta con sus glamourosos vestidos. Unos 75 diseños van a estar expuestos al público que va poder sentir, ver y tocar unas piezas sumamente trabajadas desde una perspectiva arquitectónica y matemática.

Dicha exposición va a estar abierta al público hasta el próximo 10 de agosto. La excusa perfecta para visitar la siempre mágica ciudad de Nueva York.

Coco Chanel’s Exhibition in The Hague:

Have you already made plans for the weekend?.

If you don’t have a plan yet, we suggest you make a visit to The Hague, the Nederland’s third largest city after Amsterdam and Rotterdam. Make the most of your time in The Hague by sightseeing, but especially by visiting Coco Chanel’s exhibition held in its main museum. The exhibition encompasses for the first time the biography, style and legend of “Chanel”.

In the words of Benno Tempel, director of the “Gemeentemuseum”, “this exhibition is not about fashion, but about style, something that continues and goes beyond the fleeting fashion trends”.

Coco Chanel was a true trend-setter who was able to understand the needs of the new women of the early twentieth century. Moreover, she designed a certain number of icons which continue up to today.

A total of 150 items, including dresses, suits, jewels, and accessories can be seen at the exhibition. It is worth mentioning that the jewels collection includes an extensive representation of garish jewels, which are part of a private collection that Coco Chanel used to use to contrast the simplicity of her creations.

And of course, there is the indispensable bottle of Chanel Nº5 dating back to 1921.

The exhibition, which can be visited until February 2, 2014, is held at Stadhouderslaan 41, The Hague.

¿Ya tienes plan para este fin de semana?.

Si todavía no sabes qué hacer te sugerimos que te hagas una escapada a  La Haya, la tercera ciudad más grande de los Países Bajos después de Ámsterdam y Róterdam.  Aprovecha para hacer turismo pero sobre todo para visitar la exposición de Coco Chanel en su museo municipal.  Una exposición en la que por primera vez se engloba la biografía, el estilo y la leyenda de "Chanel".

"Esta exposición no trata de moda, sino de estilo, algo que perdura y va más allá de la fugacidad de las tendencias", en  palabras  del director del "Gemeentemuseum", Benno Tempel.

Coco Chanel fue una auténtica vanguardista que supo entender las necesidades de la nueva mujer que nació a principios del siglo XX, creadora de una serie de iconos que a día de hoy siguen vigentes.

En la exposición podemos ver unos 150 objetos, entre vestidos, trajes, joyas y complementos. Como curiosidad, entre los complementos se incluye una extensa representación de llamativas joyas, pertenecientes a una colección privada, con las que Coco Chanel contrastaba la simplicidad de sus creaciones.

Y por supuesto lo que tampoco puede faltar es una botella de Chanel Nº 5 datada en 1921.

La exposición podrá visitarse hasta el 2 de febrero de 2014 en  Stadhouderslaan 41, La Haya.
